AI Luau script writer for Roblox Studio

Picoo is a Luau script writer for Roblox Studio. Describe what you want at picoo.io/chat — combat handler, datastore wrapper, anti-exploit guard, OOP class — and get production-ready Luau wired into the right service.

Runs scripts through the Luau compiler and checks them for Roblox API mistakes before they land. Type-safe via --!strict. Server/client split picked automatically.

Updated 7 October 2026

Writes inside Studio

No chat-window copy/paste. The plugin places each script directly into the correct service — ServerScriptService, ReplicatedStorage, StarterPlayerScripts.

Type-safe by default

Every script ships --!strict. Picoo picks proper type annotations and ModuleScript boundaries automatically.

Edits existing code

Picoo reads open scripts and patches in-place. Refactor server/client split, add validation to RemoteEvents, fix race conditions.

Output console aware

Picoo ingests Studio output errors, identifies the offending script, and writes the fix in the next prompt.

Recipe-backed

31 vetted templates for combat, pet, tycoon, projectile weapons, mini-game rounds, DataStore saves. The output for 'pet system' is the same shape every time.

Anti-exploit by default

RemoteEvent handlers ship with range / cooldown / sanitization. No client-trusted damage. No string concat in DataStore keys.

Why an AI Luau writer beats raw ChatGPT

General LLMs (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude) write Luau syntax, but they don't know your Studio context. They produce scripts that reference services not loaded, RemoteEvents that don't exist, types redeclared elsewhere. You spend the next 30 minutes fixing what should have just worked.

A Roblox-native Luau script writer like Picoo reads the live place hierarchy on every prompt — knows what services are loaded, which scripts are open in your editor, what assets exist in Workspace. The output is project-aware and validated before it touches your Studio.

For the broader picture see our comparison or check the Luau generator overview. To install, head to /docs.

Concrete Luau scripts Picoo writes in single prompts: combat, DataStore, anti-exploit, leaderboard. All 65 on the how-to index.

What does an AI-written Luau script actually look like?

This is the file Picoo writes into ServerScriptService when you ask for a melee hit that an exploiter cannot fake. It is the whole script, not a fragment. The prompt was “melee damage on hit, server decides, 0.45s cooldown, 18 stud range”.

--!strict
-- ServerScriptService/CombatService.server.lua

local ReplicatedStorage = game:GetService("ReplicatedStorage")
local Players = game:GetService("Players")

local function ensureRemote(name: string): RemoteEvent
    local existing = ReplicatedStorage:FindFirstChild(name)
    if existing and existing:IsA("RemoteEvent") then
        return existing
    end
    local created = Instance.new("RemoteEvent")
    created.Name = name
    created.Parent = ReplicatedStorage
    return created
end

local hitRemote = ensureRemote("HitEnemy")

local COOLDOWN = 0.45
local MAX_RANGE = 18
local DAMAGE = 12

local lastSwing: { [Player]: number } = {}

local function characterRoot(player: Player): BasePart?
    local character = player.Character
    if not character then
        return nil
    end
    return character:FindFirstChild("HumanoidRootPart") :: BasePart?
end

hitRemote.OnServerEvent:Connect(function(player: Player, target: Instance)
    -- The client says who it hit. The server decides whether that was possible.
    if not target:IsA("Model") then
        return
    end

    local now = os.clock()
    if now - (lastSwing[player] or 0) < COOLDOWN then
        return
    end

    local attacker = characterRoot(player)
    local victimRoot = target:FindFirstChild("HumanoidRootPart") :: BasePart?
    local humanoid = target:FindFirstChildOfClass("Humanoid")
    if not (attacker and victimRoot and humanoid) then
        return
    end

    if (attacker.Position - victimRoot.Position).Magnitude > MAX_RANGE then
        return
    end

    lastSwing[player] = now
    humanoid:TakeDamage(DAMAGE)
end)

Players.PlayerRemoving:Connect(function(player: Player)
    lastSwing[player] = nil
end)

Four things in there are the reason it survives contact with a real game. The client sends only which model it hit, so a hacked client cannot send its own damage number. The distance check runs on the server against the attacker's real position. The cooldown is stored per player and cleared on PlayerRemoving, so the table does not grow for the lifetime of the server. And --!strict at the top means Studio's own analyser catches a wrong type before you ever press play.

A general chat model will write something that looks close to this. What it usually leaves out is the cleanup line and the server-side range check, because nothing in a chat window tells it your RemoteEvent is reachable by anyone who opens an exploit menu.

Can AI write Roblox scripts that run without editing?

Often, and the reason is where the checking happens. Before a script lands in your place, Picoo runs it through the Luau compiler for parse errors and checks it for the Roblox API mistakes that only blow up at runtime: RemoteFunction.OnServerFunction instead of OnServerInvoke, a Model:SetPrimaryPart method that does not exist, Humanoid.PrimaryPart instead of HumanoidRootPart. Errors go back to the AI to fix.

When a check fails the script does not reach you half-written. Picoo rewrites and checks again, and you see the version that passed.

Does it work on a game you have already started?

That is the normal case. Picoo reads the place hierarchy on every prompt, so it knows which services are loaded, what is sitting in Workspace, and which scripts you have open. Ask it to add validation to a RemoteEvent you wrote last month and it patches that file rather than writing a second one beside it.

It also reads the Studio output window. Paste nothing: when a script you just ran throws, the error comes back into the chat with the line it came from, and the next prompt starts from there.

Frequently asked

What is an AI Luau script writer?+

An AI Luau script writer is a tool that turns natural-language descriptions into Luau code that runs in Roblox Studio. Picoo is a Roblox-native AI Luau writer — its Studio plugin reads your current place hierarchy and writes Server / LocalScript / ModuleScript files into the correct services.

How is an AI script writer different from copying code from ChatGPT?+

ChatGPT writes Luau in a chat window — you copy, paste into Studio, and discover what doesn't work at runtime. Picoo writes Luau inside Studio. Before a script lands in your place, Picoo runs it through the Luau compiler and checks it for Roblox API mistakes, and errors go back to the AI to fix. It places each script in the correct service automatically (ServerScriptService for server logic, ReplicatedStorage for shared modules, etc.).

What Luau patterns does Picoo generate?+

Server-authoritative game logic, RemoteEvent guards (range / cooldown / sanitization), DataStore retry policies, OOP table-class patterns, ProfileService-style save flows, anti-exploit validation, pooled UI elements (damage numbers, particles), --!strict typing throughout. Recipe-backed by 31 vetted system templates.

Can it edit existing scripts, not just create new ones?+

Yes. Picoo reads your open scripts and place hierarchy, can patch existing ModuleScripts, refactor server/client split, add anti-exploit validation to legacy RemoteEvents, and surface output console errors back to the chat for fix-and-retry.

Is there a free tier?+

No. Picoo is premium-only — there is no free tier and no trial. Pro is $19/month or $12/month billed yearly (200 credits), and Business is $49/month or $35/month billed yearly (500 credits). A chat turn costs 1 credit on Haiku or 5 on Sonnet, plus 1 credit per distinct write past the first two, capped at 15 per turn.
