Roblox Assistant daily limit or internal error: what to do

Updated 7 October 2026

We make Picoo, a paid AI plugin for Roblox Studio, so keep that in mind as you read. Most of the options below are Roblox's own, and some of them cost nothing. We checked each Roblox fact on this page against Roblox's documentation and the DevForum on 7 October 2026.

Short answer

Roblox doesn't publish a daily number for Assistant, and its documentation describes no way to buy more. When you hit the limit, you can wait for it to reset, connect Assistant to your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini API key, or work through Studio's built-in MCP server with an AI tool you already use.

If Assistant shows “Internal Error”, check status.roblox.com, update and restart Studio, and try a new chat. If the error keeps coming back, report it on the DevForum with your Studio log file.

A paid plugin such as Picoo makes sense if you keep hitting the limit while building systems that span several scripts.

What Roblox Assistant is, and where the limit comes from

Assistant is the AI helper built into Roblox Studio. It answers questions about Roblox development and can create and edit scripts and objects in your place. It can also insert Creator Store assets and generate meshes, materials and procedural models.

Roblox's Assistant guide gives one usage number: 50 procedural models in a rolling 24-hour window. That count updates continuously and doesn't reset at a set time. The guide gives no daily number for chat requests.

Developers hit the chat limit often enough to ask Roblox about it in public. “Increase Roblox Assistant Usage Limit”, a DevForum request from June 2026 with about 4,300 views, says the limit “is reached very quickly during normal development workflows”. A July thread asks Roblox to sell extra usage and to show how much quota is left, and an April request asked to buy Assistant credits with Robux.

If you hit the daily limit

Wait for it to reset

Roblox hasn't said when the chat limit resets. In June, a developer in the UK wrote that their limit reset around 8 AM UK time and put it down to Roblox resetting on Pacific time. Roblox hasn't confirmed it, so treat it as one person's observation.

Run Assistant on your own API key

Assistant can use a model from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini through an API key you provide. In Studio, open Assistant, click the three-dot menu, choose Manage API Keys, pick the provider, enter your key and select the model. The provider then bills you for what you use. Roblox's documentation doesn't say whether these requests count toward the daily limit.

Work through Studio's MCP server with a tool you already use

Studio has a built-in MCP server that lets outside AI tools work on the place you have open. To turn it on, open Assistant, click the three-dot menu, choose Manage MCP Servers and switch on Enable Studio as MCP server. Roblox's quick connect lists Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Visual Studio Code and Antigravity.

A connected tool can read your place, create and run scripts, edit instances and run playtests, and it runs on that tool's own plan or API account. Roblox's own warning applies: MCP clients can read and modify content in your open places, so connect only tools you trust.

Use a third-party Studio plugin

AI plugins from other companies don't run through Assistant, so its limit doesn't apply to them. Each has its own price and limits. Some are free, some are paid, and some ask for your own API key. Our alternatives page compares several of them, and Picoo is covered below.

If Assistant shows “Internal Error” or stops partway

A June 2026 DevForum bug report describes Assistant stopping in the middle of a command and showing “Internal Error” even on simple requests, with a daily-limit message that looked wrong at the same time. A Roblox staff member asked for the developer's Studio log file and later said the team had been notified. We found no published fix. These steps are worth trying:

  1. Check status.roblox.com. Studio has its own row under Creator, so a wider outage shows up there.
  2. Update Roblox Studio to the latest version and restart it.
  3. Start a new chat in Assistant. Each chat has its own context window, so a long conversation doesn't carry over into the new one.
  4. If the error keeps coming back, file a bug report on the DevForum and include your Studio log file. That is what Roblox staff asked for in the June report.

If you need to keep working while Assistant is down, an MCP client or a third-party plugin lets you keep scripting.

Where Picoo fits

Picoo is a paid AI plugin for Roblox Studio, with the chat in your browser. We built it for game systems that span several scripts, such as a shop that saves purchases or a sword combat system with a health bar. It reads the place you have open and writes the server scripts, client scripts, remotes and UI into the right services. Picoo doesn't go through Assistant, so Assistant's limit doesn't apply. You don't need an OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini key either, because Picoo runs the AI models on its own account.

Picoo has no daily message limit. Plans come with monthly credits, and each turn uses some. Pro is $19 a month, or $12 a month billed yearly, with 200 credits a month. Business is $49 a month, or $35 a month billed yearly, with 500. If you run low, you can buy a credit pack or wait for your monthly top-up.

Before a script lands in your place, Picoo runs it through the Luau compiler and checks it for Roblox API mistakes, and errors go back to the AI to fix. You can start a prompt with /plan to review a numbered plan before anything changes, and ask Picoo to undo a change you don't want.

You need a paid subscription to use Picoo, and there is no free tier or trial. Nothing stops you from keeping Assistant for questions and using Picoo for bigger builds.

Frequently asked questions

What is Roblox Assistant's daily limit?+

Roblox doesn't publish a daily number for Assistant's chat requests. Its guide gives one number: 50 procedural models in a rolling 24-hour window. Developers have asked on the DevForum for a higher limit and for a way to see how much is left.

When does the Roblox Assistant limit reset?+

Roblox hasn't said for chat requests. The procedural-model cap is counted over the last 24 hours, so it doesn't reset at a set time. One developer in the UK reported that their limit reset around 8 AM UK time, which is midnight Pacific time in summer. Roblox hasn't confirmed it.

Can I use Roblox Assistant with my own API key?+

Yes. Open Assistant, click the three-dot menu, choose Manage API Keys, pick Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini, enter your key and select a model. The provider bills you for that usage. Roblox's documentation doesn't say whether those requests count toward the daily limit.

Why does Roblox Assistant say "Internal Error"?+

Roblox hasn't published a cause. A June 2026 DevForum report describes Assistant stopping mid-command with "Internal Error" on simple requests, and a Roblox staff member asked for Studio log files. Check status.roblox.com, update and restart Studio, try a new chat, and report it with your log file if it keeps happening.

What can I use when Roblox Assistant hits its limit?+

Roblox's own routes come first: your own API key inside Assistant, or an AI tool such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex CLI connected through Studio's built-in MCP server. Third-party Studio plugins are another route. They don't use Assistant's limit, and each has its own price. Picoo is one of them, a paid plugin for building systems that span several scripts.

Does Picoo have a daily limit?+

Picoo has no daily message limit. Plans come with monthly credits (Pro 200, Business 500), each turn uses some, and subscribers can buy top-up packs. Picoo needs a paid subscription and has no free tier.

Do I need an OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini key to use Picoo?+

No. Picoo runs the AI models on its own account, and each turn is paid for with your plan's credits. The only key you paste is your Picoo connection key, which links the Studio plugin to your account.
