The RoCode plugin is a third-party AI coding assistant for Roblox Studio. You chat at rocode.app/chat in a desktop browser, and the plugin builds the changes into the place you have open in Studio. To set it up, install it from the Creator Store, allow HTTP requests to relay.rocode.app and Script Injection, then connect Studio to the chat.

The details below come from RoCode's own docs and info page, checked in October 2026. RoCode updates often, so check the docs if something looks different.

What RoCode is

RoCode has two parts: a web chat at rocode.app and a plugin inside Studio. The plugin connects to the chat through RoCode's relay, then makes the changes in your open place.

RoCode says it is "not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Roblox Corporation", so it is an independent tool. Make sure you are on rocode.app when you sign up or download anything.

What you need before you start

  • Roblox Studio on Windows or Mac, kept up to date
  • A desktop browser. Phones are not supported. If you use Brave, turn Shields off for rocode.app.
  • A network that doesn't block rocode.app. Some school and work Wi-Fi does.
  • A RoCode account. RoCode's docs say you must be 13 or older, and if you are under 18 you need a parent or guardian's permission.

How to install and connect the RoCode plugin

1. Make an account

Sign up at rocode.app. If you already have a RoCode account made with email, Google or Discord, RoCode's docs say that signing in with Roblox creates a separate account, so stick with the one you started on. RoCode never asks for your Roblox password. Treat any page that does as fake.

2. Install the plugin

Get the plugin from the [Creator Store](https://create.roblox.com/store/asset/76709915519235). Before you install, make sure the asset ID is 76709915519235, the one linked from rocode.app/docs. After it installs, it shows up in Studio's Plugins tab as RoCode AI.

3. Allow the permissions

When Studio asks, allow HTTP requests to relay.rocode.app and allow Script Injection. The next section explains what each one does.

4. Open a place

Any place works. A new Baseplate is a safe place to test in.

5. Open the chat

Go to rocode.app/chat in a desktop browser and keep it open.

6. Connect Studio to the chat

If Studio is signed in to the same Roblox account you use on RoCode, your plugin is up to date and the chat is open, it connects by itself.

If it doesn't, the RoCode panel in Studio shows an 8-character code:

  • Type the code into the Connect to Roblox Studio card in the chat and press Connect
  • Then click Connect or Allow in Studio

The code works once and is valid for 15 minutes. After you press Connect in the browser, you have 2 minutes to confirm in Studio.

What the permissions mean

HTTP requests

RoCode's docs say the plugin's own HTTP requests only go to relay.rocode.app. That is how your chat messages reach Studio and how results come back. Studio also contacts Roblox itself for things like inserting Creator Store models and looking up your Roblox name.

Script Injection

This permission lets a plugin create and edit scripts in your place. Studio shows a Script Injection dialog the first time a plugin tries to change scripts. RoCode's Build mode needs it. Ask mode still works without it, so if you only want answers and no edits, you can leave it off.

Fixing a permission you denied by mistake

  • Open the Plugins tab and click Manage Plugins
  • Click the pencil icon next to RoCode AI
  • Turn on Script Injection or the HTTP permission
  • If you re-allowed HTTP, click Reset in the RoCode panel
  • If Script Injection still shows as off, restart Studio

Build mode and Ask mode

  • Build mode makes changes in your place.
  • Ask mode only reads your place and answers questions. It changes nothing.

RoCode's docs also list extras such as a script compile check, playtesting and a "Look check" that screenshots what was built.

Undoing changes

RoCode's docs say each batch of changes is one undo point, so Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on Mac) rolls back a whole batch. Try that first.

The docs also say deleted objects are moved to a RoCodeTrash folder in ServerStorage, with a record of where each one came from. To see them, open ServerStorage in the Explorer and expand RoCodeTrash. If undo isn't an option, you can drag an object back to where it belongs by hand. This is a manual fix, not a RoCode feature. Keep in mind that deletes older than the 30 most recent runs, and anything you delete from inside RoCodeTrash, are gone for good.

Privacy: what leaves your computer

RoCode's info page says it runs on third-party AI models. That means your messages and the parts of your place RoCode reads are sent off your computer to be processed. The docs say Look check screenshots of your build are also sent to a third-party AI model, and that RoCode doesn't store them. Don't use it on places with code or data you can't share, and read the privacy policy on rocode.app if you want the full details.

RoCode plans and refunds

RoCode has a free daily allowance and paid plans. Plans and prices change, so check rocode.app for the current ones. RoCode advertises a 14-day refund window on its site.

Other options to compare

Roblox Studio has its own built-in Assistant. Studio also has a built-in MCP server that lets outside AI tools connect to it. Roblox warns that connected clients can change your open places, so only connect tools you trust.

Where Picoo fits

Picoo is a paid Roblox Studio plugin with paid plans only and no trial. Pro is $19 a month and Business is $49 a month. It reads your place's hierarchy before it writes, then builds scripts, instances, UI and 3D meshes straight into your place. After each request, Picoo lists which changes worked, which failed and which it couldn't verify. It also uses ready-made recipes for common systems like combat, inventory, shops and leaderboards, as in this guide on making a Roblox combat system.

If you mainly want help writing and editing Luau, RoCode's plans start lower and may be the better deal. Picoo has no refund window and doesn't refund partial periods, but you can cancel from the billing portal and keep access until the period ends. The two are separate plugins, so you can run both side by side while you decide. Read more about what Picoo costs or visit picoo.io.

FAQ

Is the RoCode plugin made by Roblox?

No. RoCode says it is "not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Roblox Corporation". Roblox's own AI tools in Studio are the Assistant and the built-in MCP server.

Is it safe to give RoCode Script Injection permission?

Script Injection lets the plugin create and edit scripts in your place, which Build mode needs. RoCode never asks for your Roblox password. Your messages and the parts of your place it reads are sent to third-party AI models, so keep private code out of it. If you are unsure, test it in a new Baseplate first, or leave Script Injection off and use Ask mode, which changes nothing.

Why won't RoCode connect at school?

Some school and work networks block the connection RoCode needs to relay.rocode.app. Also check that you are on a desktop browser, that Brave Shields is off for rocode.app, that the chat is open, and that you confirmed in Studio within 2 minutes of pressing Connect.

Can I use RoCode if I am under 18?

RoCode's docs say you can if you are 13 or older and a parent or guardian gives permission.
